Reports to:
Instrument Production Manager

Position Overview:
The candidate shall support the build, test, and packout of the Heliscope instrument and other Helicos products. This position reports to the Instrument Production Manager and will work directly with Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, and other Manufacturing Technicians. This is a full-time contract position, with potential for transition to permanent employee status.

Position Requirements:

Associates degree in an Engineering field or equivalent education is required. A BS in either Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is a strong plus.
A minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong hands-on experience with complex assembly and testing skills, using hand tools, fixturing, and test equipment.
Experience with production documentation: Assembly and test procedures, BOMs, assembly drawings, schematics, change orders, non-conforming material reports, material movement documents, etc.
Proficient with Microsoft Office: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
Proficient with a material ERP system: IFS, JDE, Oracle or equivalent.
The ability to work daily with co-workers in other departments.
Experience with GMP / ISO / FDA quality requirements is a plus.

Job Tasks:

Hands-on assemble complex production level instrumentation.
Perform in-process quality control testing (IPQC) and final quality control testing (FQC) on instruments.
Identify part non-conformances and assist the Production Manager with resolution.
Support improvement of process documentation. Create updated documentation and assist with Change Orders when necessary.
Perform packout duties on instrumentation prior to shipment.
Support contract manufacturers in the outsourcing of sub assemblies (domestic outsourcing) and assist them with troubleshooting if necessary.
Support field related instrument sustaining issues.
Participate in the reduction of material costs, assembly & test time, lean initiatives, and improvements to production processes.
Assist with development of assembly and test quality metrics to gauge quality and performance.
Assist with in-house rework on parts if necessary.
