Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Position Overview:Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will serve a critical role as business partner to the organization, helping to ensure that high-quality financial information is created and used to drive good decisions and operations in this fast-moving company. The successful candidate will be responsible for all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls; help develop budgets and build financial planning & analysis capabilities; and support day-to-day business operations. We seek a hands-on professional accustomed to entrepreneurial, growth-oriented environments, preferably with specific experience in a biotech / life sciences or manufacturing company.
The successful applicant will have responsibility for:
Manage the Companys month-end closing and reporting process, including preparation or review of reconciliations, journal entries, roll forwards and account analysis
Manage the accounting operations for revenue recognition, accounts receivable, treasury, equity, payroll (U.S. and Canada), accounts payable, and property accounting
Responsible for the planning, preparation, review and filing of the Companys SEC documents, including 10-Ks, and 10-Qs
Oversee annual audit and quarterly financial reviews with external auditors, including the A-133 audit of the Companys NIH grants
Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
Manage NIH grant reporting and accounting functions
Assist with stock administration function and manage equity accounting matters
Prepare accounting research memos and conclude on management position
Lead tax planning for annual tax returns and provision preparation with external tax accountants
Lead risk management function in coordination with external insurance providers
In collaboration with CFO, develop annual budget and quarterly forecasts
Manage accounting and finance staff
